Estate Agent Boards

Estate agent boards need to be clear, weather-ready and easy to read from the road. We make and install property boards for sales, rentals, developments and show house directions across Boksburg and greater Gauteng.

Property boards that do the job on the street

Estate agent boards are one of the simplest ways to get attention on a property, but they need to be made properly if you want them to last. We produce boards for residential sales, rental listings, new developments and directional signage for show houses. Most boards are made from flat rigid sheet material with full colour print or cut vinyl graphics, then mounted on poles, fences, gates or boundary walls depending on the site.

For busy roads in places like Boksburg, Benoni and Germiston, the board has to stay readable in strong sun, dust and rain. On windier stands or open corners we can advise on stronger fixing points and safer board sizes so the sign does not flex or pull loose. If the property is in an estate or controlled area, we also check the board format against the local rules before making it.

Our property boards are used by agencies, developers, letting teams and landlords who want a clean professional look that is easy to update. A board can carry the agency name, agent contact details, QR code, directional arrow or a short message such as For Sale, To Let or Show House. If you need a few boards for different suburbs, we can keep the layout consistent across the set.

Sizes, materials and finishing options

The right board size depends on how far away it must be seen and where it will be fitted. Smaller boards suit gates, windows and indoor viewing points, while larger boards are better for roadside exposure and development sites. We can also make directional boards with arrows for corners, cul-de-sacs and entrance roads.

  • Common sizes include 600 x 450 mm, 900 x 600 mm and 1200 x 900 mm
  • Custom sizes available for estates, developments and branded campaigns
  • Flat sheet boards for temporary listings and long-term use
  • Double-sided options for street corners and drive-by traffic
  • Laminated finish for better resistance to fading and scuff marks
  • Pre-drilled fixing holes or supplied with mounting brackets if needed

We usually work with rigid outdoor sign board material that holds print well and can handle rain, sun and daily handling. Where a cleaner premium look is needed, cut vinyl lettering can be applied directly to the board surface. If you want a reusable board, we can supply changeable inserts or a simple layout that allows the message to be updated later.

Where estate boards work best

Property boards are suitable for most residential and commercial letting work, but the location makes a difference to the final layout. A board on a quiet suburban street can be smaller, while a busy road in Midrand or along a main route in the East Rand often needs bigger lettering and simpler wording. For show houses, directions must be short and easy to follow, especially on weekends when there are multiple viewings.

These boards are commonly used for:

  • Residential sales and rentals
  • Townhouse complexes and sectional title units
  • New developments and off-plan launches
  • Show house direction boards
  • Agent branding at vacant properties
  • Temporary notice boards for site access or viewing times

If the board is going on a boundary wall or fence, we check the surface first so the fixing method suits the material. On brick, steel palisade or timber, the mounting method is different and that affects both the look and the life of the board. We also take note of any security gates, landscaping or power lines that may interfere with placement. A board can be perfectly printed, but if it sits in the wrong spot it wont work properly.

Installation, mounting and site checks

We handle site surveys, board mounting and installation across Ekurhuleni and greater Gauteng. Before fitting, we check access, wall height, fence strength and the best viewing angle from the road. On some properties the best position is not the most obvious one, because trees, parked cars or boundary walls can block the view.

Mounting methods may include drilled fixings, brackets, cable ties, screws, bolts or pole mounting depending on the site. For temporary boards, we can fit a neat solution that is easy to remove later without leaving unnecessary damage. For longer term use, we recommend stronger fixings and a board layout that can handle sun, wind and repeated cleaning.

There is no electricity or gas required for standard estate agent boards. If you want an illuminated sign or a board combined with another lit feature, that becomes a different setup and would need power planning and weather-safe cabling. For ordinary sales and rental boards though, the work is fully passive and suitable for load-shedding conditions because it does not rely on power at all.

Care, servicing and board lifespan

Outdoor property boards should be checked now and then, especially in areas with strong sun, dust or coastal humidity moving inland through the season. Most boards need only light cleaning with water and a soft cloth. Avoid harsh thinners or abrasive pads, because they can dull the print and weaken the surface finish.

We can help with maintenance visits, replacement of damaged boards, vinyl removal and refurbishment when a property changes hands. If a listing is renewed, we can strip the old message and prepare the board for a fresh application rather than replacing the whole unit. That saves time and keeps the presentation neater for future use.

  • Wipe off dust before it builds up and stains the print
  • Check fixings after strong wind or rain
  • Replace cracked boards before they become unsafe
  • Remove old adhesive carefully to avoid surface damage
  • Store spare boards flat and out of direct sun when not in use
